House owners - unite!

Michael and I tried to shirk our house-owning duties today, by going skiing.  But the fates had other plans.  They made the skiing so awful, that we left after two runs.  But we did get some good pictures.

After we made it back home.  We shirked no longer, and got right to yard work, re-potting of plants, planning of gardens, and refinishing of tables.  I think we over did it.  That was a little too much stuff going on.

But anyway,  here is what our sorry table looked like before.

Now one of our sorry chairs.

We decided to paint the chairs a gloss black, then the table will be black and we will re-stain the wood a cherry color.

Chair After

The table has not been finished sanding or staining yet.  That will have to wait until next weekend.  (helpful hint, don't try to tackle too many projects at once like we did) But here is a pic of my bay window with the (finally) potted plants!

We are realizing how much work it is owning a home.  The yard is in quite a state of disarray, and our fence is literally falling down in several places.  Not to mention that there are pine needles and leaves everywhere that need to be raked.  This was definitely an older house that we bought, and the yard really shows it.  It is going to take quite a bit of legwork to get it ready for a garden.  We are ready for the challenge though!

  1. Your house is looking so good! Even though it's a long tedious process I bet you are both having so much fun together working on making your house a home. I know a little corny but true!
