Timpanogos

One of the reasons we decided to get a National Parks Pass is because we have a national park about 20 min from our place called Timpanogos National Park.  They have a bunch of hiking, camping, and picnic areas and since it is so close, we knew we would come up a couple times during the year.  Their big attraction is a set of underground caves that they give tours of.  We really want to do the tour, but we will wait until we have some people visit us.  :-)

Anyway, this past weekend, one of Michael's coworkers who used to work with him in Denver came out to visit us over the weekend.  He actually came to work with Michael during the week, but came out early with his girlfriend for a little vacation.  So we showed them some of the amazing mountains and scenery of Utah.

Saturday we all went to Timpanogos to do the cave tour, but they had sold out!  So we decided to do a 4.4 mile round trip hike to Silver Lake instead.  Isn't it pretty!

It was perfect hiking weather.  Warm, but not overly so.

Our plan was to hike during the afternoon and then go down to one of the picnic spots for dinner.

Each picnic spot has an awesome fire ring!  We had all made up Hobo dinners beforehand to cook in the hot coals.  Um, yum!  I think we will be doing that again soon.  And then of course we had s'more stuff.  Andy even tried melting chocolate in a little aluminum foil bowl so he could dip marshmallows and strawberries in it.

It was a really fun time.  Michael and I can go back up there anytime we want to have a little campfire.  It is really pretty up there too.

So green and so many trees!
Sunday, our neighbors invited us to Deer Creek reservoir for the day.  They have friends with a boat and were going tubing and wake-boarding.  We wanted to go to church (we went to a church we really liked last week!!) and do a couple other things so we didn't get out there until around 4pm, so we missed a lot of the tubing and wake-boarding (not like I can do it anyway).  They went out one more time after we got there and the tube cover ripped off while Michael was on it!  He flew off the tube into the water, well, him and the other three guys on the tube.  So he was soaked.  Of course we didn't wear swim suits (totally forgot).

Ahh, but what a great weekend!
