Estes Weekend

Well...
We never ended up hiking Bierdstadt Peak, but we did hike in Estes to Bierdstadt lake!

This was a pic that we took on the way up there. Nancy hiked like a champ. Would you believe me if I told you that it was snowy that morning of the hike? Yeah...my first snow this year was in Estes!!

It was gorgeous, the aspens were just starting to turn, and the elk were in rut, which means mating season, so they were everywhere and they were bugling like crazy. We woke up that Saturday morning to the elk bugling away.

Us eating after the hike, on the way up to trail ridge road.

Us at the top of trail ridge road, about 12,100 feet! It was snowing like crazy, you can see I had to have a mocha fix.
We got to see elk too. Since they were rutting, the males were feisty, and we hoped to see a bull elk fight, but sadly, no.

After our hike and time in the car, in the snowy cold, it was time for a much needed warm up, in the hot tub.

It was a great day. Everyone had a great time. That night, Mike's mom picked a BBQ joint for a Birthday dinner and we all feasted on brisket and pulled pork. The next day, Nancy and Bruce had to head back, but mike and I did a little more hiking. We ended up just getting a year long pass, that is how awesome Rocky Mountain National Park is.

Well, this post was short, sweet, and to the point. I'll be back soon!
