Whirlwinds of Family and Fun(k)

Whew, what can I say, it has been crazy! So busy but happy! I am getting to see so much of family! I love it! Michael's parents got in around 8pm on Thursday and what did we do right away friday morning? We hit the trail!
Well, me, Bruce, and Nancy did. Michael did a training ride so he didn't join us. We got to see him on top though because he biked up there. Naughty, naughty though. He shouldn't have been working that hard the day before the big race!

it was, of course, beautiful on top! Both Nancy and Bruce made it all the way!
How could you not love that view!
After that fun little adventure, it was off to Laramie to check michael in for his race.
After a delicious dinner, we headed back to the hotel to sleep and get up early for the race! His race started at 7:10am.
There were about 500 people in the race I think, so many bikes!

Here they are lining up at the start.
And they are off!! Can you see Michael's hand raised up?
We got to see him at two crossings where they crossed the a main road. The first was about 33 miles in.
He was feeling pretty good and strong still!
The next stop was at a little over 50miles in. So we had over an hour to wait by the time we got there. so what were we to do? Well, play with corgis and...
Climb on some of the neat surrounding rocks.
It was a really pretty area. And there were these massive boulders in the middle of these grassy, prairie fields.
At the second stop Michael was feeling a little bit tired, but still going good!
At the end of this post is a movie of him crossing the finish. He was whipped, but he finished! He made it in 6hrs and 41min! What a champ. sorry ladies, he's mine.
Look at how dirty he was! I think this photo is hilarious, he looks like he has leg warmers. It is just mud from all the stream crossings.
The rest of the night was just resting, watching movies, and eating pizza! We found out that he placed 5th in his category and 33rd out of 205 in the class he was racing in! way to go babe!
