Carson - 8 Months

I really slacked on this post.  Carson is 8.5 months now, I completely spaced his 8 month post and photos.  With the trip to Wisconsin, family in town before that, and then remodeling our bathroom (yes, ugh, more on the later) I've been crazy busy.

Buddy, you just keep growing and changing.  :-)  Definitely a lot of growing.  You are still as chunky as ever!  And everywhere we go, people talk about your big, expressive blue eyes.

You definitely sit all by yourself now, and you are rolling all over the place.  Still yet to crawl though.

You were 26 inches long and 18 lbs 14 oz at your allergist appointment.

You have gotten one more tooth!  Only one of your top ones has come through.  It makes you look like a hillbilly.

You never sit still.  When you are awake, you do not stop moving.  It is so exhausting!

And you have started shrieking!  Holy cow, my ears.  And you do it all the time, everywhere we go.  When you are happy, mad, sad, etc, just shrieking/screaming at the top of your lungs.  I'm not sure what your infatuation is with learning how to do this yet.

You wear 9 month clothes.  I can get you in some 6-9 month stuff, but it is tight!  You are actually wearing a lot of 12 month stuff as well.

The pics for your 8 month are not great since you wouldn't sit still. Just too busy.  And almost all the photos are blurry. But once you learn how to get around, you are going to be everywhere.  I am a little worried...

I have started putting you down with toys and letting you play by yourself for awhile.  I'm going to try to keep doing this every day.  Sometimes you will sit and occupy yourself for quite awhile.  Other days you just need mom close.

You are still waking up 2-3 times at night.  I am so ready for this to stop, but you just seem to need it.  And you do go right back to sleep after you nurse. The doctors all still rave about how well you are growing and thriving so I am hesitant to try to cut out feedings, especially since you still aren't so keen on food.

And we aren't sure why you aren't really into food.  You love to feed yourself, so little pieces of food you can grab are your favorite.  I tried feeding you the puffs at the store and they made you scream and cry and gave you diaper rash so we stopped those.  You seem to tolerate just plain puffed brown rice, but we aren't sure if it is what is causing your rash to come back right now. You still are kind of refusing all purees.  It is hit or miss on the day for those.

You go to bed around 6:30-7pm and wake up about 5:50-6:20am.  You do wake up 2x at night to eat, usually between 11-1am and then again around 2-4am.  It is definitely not conducive to mommy's sleep schedule, but this seems to be what you need and are comfortable with. You usually take two naps during the day as well, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Your naps have gotten so much longer!  You now nap between and hour and hour and a half, although you still have your days where you only sleep 30 min and then mess your whole day up. :-)

Mommy still works three days a week and you have the same nanny.  You really like her a lot.  You get excited when you see her in the morning. Mommy loves it when she gets home, because you get so excited to see her!!

You are such a goof, you have started to imitate us, so we will have to start being careful.  You think the word "no" is a game right now.

You had an appointment with an allergist this month for allergy testing.  You had an anaphylactic reaction earlier this month which prompted that.  Mommy accidentally exposed you to some of her sunbutter and your face got all red and started swelling up.  The allergist appointment confirmed that you have an allergy to eggs, milk, peanuts and sunflower. The sunflower is the one you really react to.  Supposedly mom can start introducing other things back into her diet, but you are still getting rashy so something else mom is eating is still bugging you. But after cutting out sunflower, you have definitely been less rashy overall.

You went in a public pool for the first time this past month.  You went a couple times.  And you love it.  Swim lessons are definitely in your future little guy. You don't even care at all when your face gets wet, or your hair.  You have even accidentally dunked yourself with no fussing.

You are so much fun little bear.  Mommy and daddy love to play with you and see you smile!
